GP Appointments –  We offer our patients the choice of a face to face or telephone consultation. The majority of our appointments are face to face but we do have telephone slots for patients who prefer a phone call. If you need an appointment please call us on 888270. Appointments can also be made online.

Repeat Prescriptions – We will no longer be accepting phone calls for repeat prescriptions.  Patients are required to register for our online Patient Services which is available 24/7, hand in your repeat slip to Sutherlands or Boots or hand them into reception at the Practice. The reason for this is to free up our phone lines for our patients who need to speak to our team. Housebound and Shapinsay patients can continue to call in their repeat medication requests.

HOW TO ACCESS YOUR COVID VACCINATION RECORD

All Covid vaccinations given in Scotland have been recorded in the National Clinical Data Store (NCDS); your vaccination certificate is created using this information. You can access your record of vaccines given in Scotland via this link:

NHS Inform

Please read all of the information on this page carefully. Most people in Orkney will not have received a username because NHS Orkney did not use the National Vaccination Scheduling System (NVSS) to send out letters. Click on the link ‘request a copy of your vaccination status’ to log in and for those who do not have a username, click on ‘recover username’ and fill in your details.

If you still cannot access your record, or if you prefer to phone, then please phone the helpline as above on 0808 196 8565. They will be able to issue your certificate to you.

If you have tried NHS Inform and the national helpline and are still unable to access your Covid vaccination record, please contact NHS Orkney via ork.covidvaccination@nhs.scot, providing your full name, date of birth, address, and the dates and venues of your Covid vaccinations, and they will do their best to assist in resolving this for you.

Do not contact Heilendi Practice about your coronavirus vaccination status. GP's cannot provide letters showing your coronavirus vaccination status.

Advanced Physiotherapy Practitioners (APP)

Chris Ireland is the APPs assigned to the practice. His role is to assess patients with soft tissue, muscle and joint pain and to decide on the most appropriate management pathway. APPs are physiotherapists with expertise in the assessment and management of Musculoskeletal (MSK) conditions.
Examples of what you can see an APP for are:
- All soft tissue injuries, sprains, strains or sports injuries
 - Arthritis – any joint
- Possible problems with muscles, ligaments, tendons or bone, eg tennis elbow, carpal tunnel syndrome, ankle sprains
- Spinal pain including lower back pain, mid-back pain and neck pain
- Spinal-related pain in arms or legs, including nerve symptoms, eg pins and needles or numbness
- Post-orthopaedic surgery
Times when it is not appropriate to see an APP:
 - If you are acutely unwell
 - Children under 16
- Medical management of rheumatoid conditions
- Women’s health, antenatal and postnatal problems
- Medication reviews for non-MSK conditions
- Neurological and respiratory conditions
- Headaches
- Acute mental health crises

Chris works at Heilendi on a Friday and you can book an appointment with him by calling 888270.

Primary Care Mental Health Nurse

Graeme Bartlett is our Primary Care Mental Health Nurse.

The role of Primary Care Mental Health Nurse is an exciting new addition to the Primary Care multidisciplinary team, which has been growing over the recent months. The purpose of this role is to allow access to specialist mental health support and treatment direct from the local GP practices. By intervening earlier, we hope to improve outcomes for patients and in some cases more severe mental health difficulties may be avoided.

The main focus of the Primary Care Mental Health Nurse position is:

- To promote positive mental health and wellbeing for all.

- To provide information, guidance, support and access to treatments for mild to moderate mental health conditions such as anxiety and low mood.

- To provide specialist community based mental health support for individuals in crisis.

- To work as part of a wider multidisciplinary team to support our local community.

Patients may be referred to this service after being reviewed by their GP or other specialist service. Patients who feel they may benefit from this service may also book an appointment by contacting Heilendi on 888270. Please note, for those patients who are currently receiving treatment from the Community Mental Health Team, Children and Adolescent Mental Health Service, Psychiatry or Psychology, we would ask that any queries be referred to them in the first instance.

Graeme works at Heilendi on Tuesday & Thursday Mornings.
