Bwindi Community Hospital

Bwindi Community Hospital is a remote hospital in Uganda serving a population of over 120,000 people.

People come from 60-70km away (2-3 hours by dirt road by car) but for most a car is a luxury so they will travel by foot or bike. The hospital also cares for the Batwa Pigmy tribes who used to live in the impenetrable forest before they were displaced when the area became a National Park and are a very deprived population.

Dr Holly Tyson, along with her family, spent a year living in Uganda in 2019/2020 and worked in the hospital during that time. Since then Heilendi Practice has helped to fundraise to raise money towards their Chronic Disease clinics, and we continue to directly support Bwindi with monthly sponsorship through their affiliated charity REACH Bwindi’s twinning programme. We also continue to donate surplus equipment which has been much appreciated by the medical and nursing teams in Bwindi.
